What Can You Do To Keep Your Heart Healthy?

THE HEART?

The Human Heart is an organ that pumps blood throughout the body via the circulatory system, supplying oxygen and nutrients to the tissues and removing carbon dioxide and other wastes.

This is the Gas Plant of the Human Body

Everything that goes up or comes down within our body is centered within this Powerful Engine.

Now My Question is:

How well have we been taking care of this Organ?

We know what might happen to a machine if we refuse to maintain it right?

In today's post we will be looking at what can we actually do to keep our heart free from "unwated stories' that might cause a break down, so we can attain a healthy life.

Lets Start!

Get sufficient sleep

Sleep is an essential part of keeping your heart healthy. If you don’t sleep enough, you may be at a higher risk for cardiovascular disease no matter your age or other health habits.

One study looking at 3,000 adults over the age of 45 found that those who slept fewer than six hours per night were about twice as likely to have a stroke or heart attack as people who slept six to eight hours per night.

Researchers believe sleeping too little causes disruptions in underlying health conditions and biological processes, including blood pressure and inflammation.

Make sure you sleep well by going to bed early enough and sleep for at least 6-8 hours daily.

Eat healthy fats, NOT trans fats

We need fats in our diet, including saturated and polyunsaturated and unsaturated fats. One fat we don’t need is trans fat, which is known to increase your risk of developing heart disease or having a stroke over a lifetime. Which I know you wouldn't want to risk it.

Why Should you avoid trans fat??

You should because trans fat clogs your arteries by raising your bad cholesterol levels (LDL) and lowering your good cholesterol levels (HDL).

So never eat foods that contains trans fat.

Distance yourself from smoking environment

Studies show that the risk of developing heart disease is about 25 to 30 percent higher for people who are exposed to secondhand smoke at home or work.

According to the American Heart Association, exposure to tobacco smoke contributes to about 34,000 premature heart disease deaths and 7,300 lung cancer deaths each year. And nonsmokers who have high blood pressure or high blood cholesterol have an even greater risk of developing heart disease when they’re exposed to secondhand smoke.

This is because the chemicals emitted from cigarette smoke promote the development of plaque buildup in the arteries.

 Drink Alcohol Moderately

 Yes! You heard it. Drink

Some medical experts will tell you never to drink alcohol at all, but drinking is'nt bad for your health except when you abuse it.

Apart from the various hidden effects of abusive drinking...

Excessive drinking can increase your risk of other serious health problems, including: Certain cancers, including breast cancer and cancers of the mouth, throat and esophagus.

So please drink with caution.

And Manage Stress

I hate stressing myself over unnecessary things that will affect my health and or bring me discomfort, i know you do too.
I know it can be very hard  at times. Especially:

Trying to balance the wheels between work, family, and other commitments, you can become too stressed out and busy. But you need to set time aside to unwind or your mental and physical health can suffer.

Hope This post helps you keep that "Engine" called heart alive?
